The “Green Energy” Project in Butel and Medvedja
The project “Green Energy – Promoting Social Entrepreneurship through the Establishment of Pilot Energy Cooperatives in the Cross-Border Region” installed 15 kW grid-connected photovoltaic systems on four public buildings in Butel Municipality:
🏢 Municipal Building of Butel
🏡 Kindergarten “Taško Karadža”
🏫 Primary School “Kliment Ohridski”
🏫 Primary School “Aco Šopov”
These solar systems will reduce energy use and operational costs while extending the buildings’ infrastructure lifespan. They bring long-term economic and environmental benefits to the municipality and its citizens.
In Medveđa Municipality, the project improved energy efficiency at Primary School “Partizanski dom.” The school replaced old doors and windows with energy-efficient solutions, improving thermal insulation and lowering energy consumption. Students now enjoy better learning conditions, and the school’s operational costs decreased, benefiting both the environment and the community.
This initiative marks an important step toward a sustainable energy future. It shows how green energy can create a positive local impact.
Project Manager Ms. Tea Teveva emphasized the project’s role in strengthening social entrepreneurship and developing energy cooperatives in the region. She also highlighted the strategic documents prepared for the partner municipalities.
