Beyond “Ticking the box”

Celebrating Project Launches and Early Success

We are all very happy to see the first contracts, meet the project coordinators and partners, support them throughout implementation, and finally watch the projects succeed. But what happens the day after? Or a year or two later? What about the impact and the change? What stays in the programme area, and what can serve as input for other actions?

It is easier to measure impact when we talk about infrastructure, equipment, or other tangible results. However, a solid “product” that outlives the project’s lifespan is always worth mentioning. Projects that leave a strong base can be used, multiplied, copied, or transferred to other places or industries in a similar way.

About Opportunity4You

The project Opportunity4You ran for 18 months under the CBC Serbia–North Macedonia Programme, co-funded by the European Union. It aimed to improve mechanisms that support employability and labour mobility in the cross-border area of Serbia and North Macedonia. It also helped the region take advantage of the Open Balkan initiative.

The Knowledge Center, Municipality of Vlasotince, Center for the Development of the Jablanica and Pcinja Regions, and the Center for the Development of the Skopje Planning Region implemented the project.

Online Resources and Long-Term Benefits

The project’s website offers a wealth of information: useful publications (https://sansazatebe.info/en/p-library), labour market insights, and cross-border business data. These resources extend the project’s value far beyond the initial 18 months. Local institutions, businesses, jobseekers, and development practitioners can use them as reference points for decision-making, policy development, and regional cooperation.

Legacy and Impact

Opportunity4You demonstrates that a well-designed project can leave more than reports and statistics. Structured collaboration, quality data, and practical tools create a legacy that supports both current needs and future initiatives in the Serbia–North Macedonia cross-border region.
