Information about the organisation
CSO Environmental society “Bujanovac” is established on 28th May 1996 by the Decision of the Municipal Assembly of Bujanovac. The main goal is protection and improvement of the environment in municipality of Bujanovac and wider, in the Rebublic of Serbia and Region.
From establishing until 2010 administrative jobs were done by Financial Office of the Municipality of Bujanovac. After the adoption of the Law of Societies administrative jobs were confided to the Agency “Sladja” from Bujanovac, Zmajeva str. 3.

We have realized two projects titled “Eco-school “Pčinja Valley” in 2004 and 2006 we held 10 exhibitions of small animals and pets at Karadjordje Petrovic Square in Bujanovac from 1998-2009. We have painted 146 concrete’s boxes for garbage in green and white color in the name of 22nd April – Day of the Earth in 2005 and 2006.
We have held 20 public meetings about depleted uranium, smoking, AIDS, Word’s Day of Environmental Protection, Earth’s Day, World’s Waters Day, climate changes, nature protection, animal’s protection, participation of public in decision making process related to environmental impact assessments and strategic environmental impact assessments…
Few members of Environmental Society “Bujanovac” were attendants in work of summer schools and camps organized at Lake of Bor in 1998, Gornjane in 2001 and Šarbanovac in 2002. Host was Society of Young Researchers of Bor.
During the summer 2004 and 2006 Environmental Society “Bujanovac” has held two summer schools inside the Nature Protected Area “Pčinja Valley” and also has published 2 issues from summer schools thanks to the financial support from the Municipality of Bujanovac and Ministry for environmental protection.
Issue titled “Green Post-sign” was published in 2002, 2004 and 2006 about annual activities in Environmental Society “Bujanovac”.
During 2011 and 2012 Environmental Society “Bujanovac” has realized two big actions on cleaning up of wild dumpsites on more than 30 locations in the framework of action „Clean up the Serbia“.
Project “Eco-culture” has realized at the end of 2011. One beautiful exhibition with about 270 artists’ works from Bujanovac, Preševo and Medvedja was exposed in the Chamber of Culture in Bujanovac. Project was financially supported from the PBILD Program of UN as well as from Coordination body for Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja municipalities.
Project titled “Waste is not garbage” was realized during 2011 and 2012. It’s aim was to raise public awareness of selective collection some parts of waste materials. It was financed by the Coordination Body of the Republic of Serbia for Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja Municipalities. Inside the framework of the project 12 presentations were held and communal equipment (50 special containers) was bought.
In Environmental Society “Bujanovac” work only volunteers. It has 181 member. Periodically it can mobilize 150 to 1000 volunteers on different actions. It has residence inside the building of the Municipality of Bujanovac ant it is equipped with basic equipment for work.
Short description of the project idea
Research of biodiversity on salty habitats in Preševska Moravica Valley will be performed through summer camps with Macedonian and Serbian participants in the aim to promote ecosystem's values of this area. Mixture of Mediterranean and Temperate Climate causes very interesting biodiversity that presents undiscovered treasure of this area.
Project will comprise about 30 participants. Summer schools will last 10 times during 5 months in spring and summer in Macedonia and Serbia. We will publish news about activities on the project via social networks and in printed form in three languages: Serbian, Macedonian and English. Presentation will be held in Bujanovac and Skopje.
