Project results

This project established, for the first time, cooperation among four public utility companies from Serbia and North Macedonia. Through its activities, it contributed to reducing health risks and environmental impacts from waste disposal. Citizens’ skills were improved in waste sorting, regular disposal, reduction of illegal dumpsites, and overall waste volume. The project also strengthened utility companies’ capacities for proper waste management and risk reduction.

  • 151 illegal dumpsites were mapped, 76 of which were cleared.

  • Two “green oases” were created through greening activities.

  • Approximately 1,400 people from partner municipalities received training through six awareness campaigns and were informed about project results.

  • Partner companies enhanced their knowledge through a study visit to a recycling center in Slovenia.

  • Households and municipalities received 944 waste containers: underground containers for urban areas and bins for households.
